Ohio Man Jailed for Killing and Dismembering Girlfriend
URBANA, Ohio (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to stabbing, suffocating and dismembering his girlfriend in western Ohio has been sentenced to life in prison and must serve at least 42 years before being eligible for parole.
Twenty-six-year-old Matthew Puccio (POO’-chee-oh) pleaded guilty last month to aggravated murder in the death of 21-year-old Jessica Rae Sacco, along with other charges including felonious assault, gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Her remains were found in the bathtub of their Urbana apartment in late March.
Puccio was sentenced Monday. Authorities said he stabbed Sacco in the abdomen in an argument and later suffocated her with a plastic bag.
Puccio originally pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. He changed his plea to guilty after he was found competent to stand trial.
