Cuddling is Now a Business – Cuddle Café Opens Up in Tokyo
At the cuddle cafés, you pay to cuddle a Japanese woman.
The cost of admission to Soineya (literally “sleep together shop”) is 3,000 yen or $38 USD. The café gives customers the choice of the standard or optional cuddle session. The standard session is 3,000 yen ($38 USD) for 20 minutes of cuddling, while the optional session is 50,000 ($635 USD) for 10-hour sleeping/cuddling combo. All “co-sleeping” activities exclude sex or any other funny business.
There’s also other options with extra fees like sleeping in the lady’s arms, foot massages, and feeling the lady’s hair. The cuddle employees are paid 3,500 yen ($44 USD) an hour.
Although, I did read about a Manhattan woman who charges her customers for a cuddle session, this is a whole café full of pretty ladies ready to cuddle. Soineya is also a bit more pricey since the NYC based “snuggery” charges $60 an hour.
Are cuddle businesses the new rage? It’s true that human touch lowers stress hormones, but paying a stranger to cuddle with? Well, people do pay for many other services that we’d deem super weird…
